City Gives VisitorsFree Parking Spaces
(EUREKA SPRINGS, AR) – This getaway town is giving early Christmas presents to many of its shoppers – a large number of free parking spaces. The mayor and city council passed a resolution creating free on-street meter parking downtown just in time for holiday shopping.
Parking is free 7 days a week through December 31 at the metered parking spaces on Spring Street and Main Street, with a two-hour limit.
“With our great shopping, our Christmas parade, Santa in the Park, holiday concerts, and the tours of homes and BnB’s,” mayor Dani Joy stated, “We have a lot for our holiday guests to do. And at this special time of year we love giving something back to those who have given us so much.”
The action affects only on-street metered parking located on Spring and Main streets. It does not affect rates in the parking lots located on those streets.
The city is preparing to host a large number of shoppers this weekend as well as those coming for events such as the annual Christmas Parade of Lights at 6 p.m. Friday, the 21st Annual Tour of Homes from, 3-8 p.m. Saturday, the annual Christmas Ball Saturday night at the 1905 Basin Park Hotel, a benefit holiday concert by John Two-Hawks Saturday night, and Santa’s Brunch Sunday at the 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa.
