2009 Winter Wonderland Parade Brings Out the Holiday Cheer in Downtown Bentonville

Bentonville, AR – December 3, 2009, The annual Winter Wonderland Parade, which brings thousands of people into downtown Bentonville, will be held on December 5th and start at 11:00 am at 8th Street and S. Main Street. The 2009 theme is “Songs of the Holidays,” and will host over 90 individual groups, including the Bentonville High School marching band.

The parade will go down Main Street and turn left on NW 2nd Street, ending at the intersection of NW 2nd and NW A Street. The parade review stand will be located in front of the Walmart Visitor’s Center, with Cumulus radio mc’ing the parade. The 2009 Grand Marshall of the parade is Bentonville Councilwoman Mary Baggett.

Seating will be available all along the parade route, with limited bleacher seating on the Square provided by the Bentonville Parks and Recreation Department. Arkansas Kids will be performing from 9:00 am – 10:00 am, and food will be available for purchase from several street vendors as well as Stacie’s on the Square, The Station Café and Table Mesa Bistro. In addition, Leadership Benton County will also be in front of B La Rue on the west side of the Square to accept non-perishable food donations to support the Samaritan Community Center food drive.

“Along with a wonderful array of parade floats, bands and walking groups, we’ll have live entertainment and shopping opportunities available for folks who want to come down early or stay after the parade,” said Daniel Hintz, executive director of Downtown Bentonville, Inc.

Downtown Bentonville, Inc., the downtown association producing the parade, recommends spectators arrive early to ensure both parking and a good seat. After the parade, Mr. and Ms. Klaus will make their way to School Squared, located on the south side of the Square.

The 2009 Winter Wonderland Parade sponsors include the Bentonville Convention and Visitors Bureau, City of Bentonville, Benton County Daily Record, Affinity Marketing Promotions, B La Rue, Overstreet’s Jewelry, and Mayor Bob and Lana McCaslin.
