Hot Springs was
named the No. 3 United States travel destination in a forecast of travel trends
for 2010 by the Internet’s top trip advisory service,
TripAdvisor.com.
The widely used travel
information service, based in Newton, Mass., called Hot Springs a “picture
perfect town” in its annual prediction of top destinations for the coming 12
months.
“True to its name, nature's
geological wonders are a key feature of this picture-perfect town, which boasts
natural hot and cold mineral springs in which to relax, restore and renew,”
TripAdvisor said.
Its Top 5 U.S. Destinations
for 2010 list also included:
# 1. Seward, Alaska.
# 2. Hyannis, Mass.
# 3. Hot Springs.
# 4. Chinle, Ariz.
# 5. Waimea, Hawaii.
“The selection of Hot
Springs to this Top 5 list by TripAdvisor is proof that our city enjoys a great
reputation among people who actually travel,” said Steve Arrison, CEO of the
Hot Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Because TripAdvisor’s findings are
provided by actual visitors, the fact that we are No. 3 on their list shows
that Hot Springs’ tourism industry is doing an excellent job of meeting and
exceeding expectations of travelers. Our hotels, motels, restaurants and
attractions are providing the level of services that the traveling public
demands.”
Charles Moore, chairman of
the Hot Springs Advertising and Promotion Commission, said, “While travel
nationwide has been severely impacted by the two-year recession, this
recognition by the top online travel advisory service is clear proof that Hot
Springs is viewed as a destination that not only provides a wealth of things to
do and see, but also that we continue to be a destination that is viewed as a
great value.”
