Arts and Science Center Offers Science Project Jump Start Class

Jump start those spring school science projects with ideas and hands-on help at the class, “Science Project Jump Start,” set for 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main St., Pine Bluff.

Dr. Richard Walker, chemistry and physics professor at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, along with students from his classes will share tricks, tips and trade ideas to make your school science project a success. Come with ideas to be tweaked or to get inspiration. Parents also are encouraged to attend.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited. The class is for students from 12 to 18 years of age. Scholarships are available. Cost of the class is $20 for members and $55 for non-members. Parents attending the class are free.

The center, located at 701 Main St. in Pine Bluff, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1-4 p.m. Saturday and closed on Sunday. Support for the center is provided in part by the Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
