Walton Arts Center and George’s Majestic Presents Delbert McClinton on Valentine’s Day
Northwest Arkansas (February 3, 2010) – Three-time Grammy Award-winner Delbert McClinton will bring his blend of country, blues, rock and soul to Northwest Arkansas on Sunday, Feb. 14. Walton Arts Center in conjunction with George’s Majestic welcome McClinton for this one-show-only Valentine’s Day performance in Baum Walker Hall at 7pm. Tickets range from $25.50 to $100.50 and can be purchased by calling the Walton Arts Center Box Office at 479.443.5600 or by visiting waltonartscenter.org.
Making his much-anticipated return to Fayetteville, the Texas blues rocker is primed to deliver yet another powerful performance to his devoted Arkansas audience. The Valentine’s Day show features some of McClinton’s classic hits as well as new songs from his latest offering “Acquired Taste,” an album All Music Guide declared “one of, if not the best, studio outing McClinton’s issued this decade.”
McClinton, a three-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, has left his footprint on many different areas in the music industry during a career that spans more than five decades. As front-man for a 1960s bar band called The Straightjackets, McClinton honed his craft by backing such blues greats as Howlin’ Wolf, Lightnin’ Hopkins and Jimmy Reed. He continued to polish his musical skill-set while playing with countless musicians and recording various albums during the ‘70s and ‘80s. McClinton won his first Grammy in 1991 for a duet with Bonnie Raitt titled “Good Man, Good Woman.” After a stellar decade, he carried his success into the 2000s by winning two Grammys in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category – for his LPs Nothing Personal in 2001 and The Cost of Living in 2006.
