LITTLE ROCK – The 2009 Arkansas Vacation Planning Kit, which contains an Arkansas Tour Guide, an Arkansas Adventure Guide, an Arkansas State Parks Guide, a Calendar of Events and a highway map, is now available from the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. It can be ordered online by going to www.Arkansas.com and clicking on the “Free Vacation Kit” icon or by calling 1-800-NATURAL (toll-free), 501-682-7777.

New in this year’s Tour Guide are pages on Green Tourism, Free Things to Do, Culinary Tourism, Girlfriend Getaways, Agritourism, Freewheeling Arkansas and Musical Heritage.

The State Parks Guide covers the 52 parks that make up the Arkansas State Parks system. In addition to each park being highlighted, the brochure also has information on trails, cabins, lodges, campgrounds, pavilions, swimming areas, interpretive programs and watchable wildlife.

Information on all of the Arkansas public and private campgrounds is found in the Arkansas Adventure guide. Hiking and backpacking trails, float streams and outfitters, multi-use trails, and back-country drives are also included.

The current edition of the Arkansas Calendar of Events, which is published in spring-summer and fall-winter installments and contains information on festivals, concerts, state park interpretive events, museum exhibitions and a host of other happenings, is a part of the kit as well.

An official Arkansas Highway Map completes the package. For more information, contact Dena Woerner, communications manager for the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, by calling 501-682-7606 or e-mailing dena.woerner@arkansas.gov.
